Nokia BGW 320-505/two 5G Channels/Amazon Fire TV Stick

I connected to ATT Fiber Internet two days ago, and my NetSpot discovery app reports two 5G LAN Channels from my Nokia BGW 320-505 gateway. One, channel 157, has consistent signal and good strength. The second, channel 44, has intermittent-to-no signal. Neither of my two Fire TV sticks, nor my laptop PC, return any LAN channel choices in the networks detected. They show only one entry for the ATT gateway. I want to make sure all my devices are optimized, but without them returning choices, I'm stymied. BTW, NetSpot reports just one 2.4G channel, and it's all good.

Has anyone else encountered this? I have read that IPV6 does not play nicely with Fire TV sticks, and some others. I'm tempted to disable it in the BGW settings, as others have successfully done, but I'm hesitant to mess with a good thing. The Gateway seems to work flawlessly, otherwise.

I dug a bit deeper, and I'm even more perplexed. One of my Fire sticks connects to channel 157, while the other one connects to channel 44. The one that attaches to 44 has to be restarted at least once a day, due to losing connection. As an additional issue, my Android phone also does not present a choice of channels. At the moment, I can't determine which channel it uses. IPV6 may not be long for my world!

We're here to assist with your Wi-Fi, picktoo!

If you choose to the route of disabling the IPv6, you can do so with these steps:

  1. Open up a web browser.
  2. Type 192.168.1.254
  3. Enter in username and password.
    • Username is admin.
    • Password is the Access Key or A/C located on the gateway.
  4. Find the LAN tab.
  5. Select subcategory IPv6.
  6. Un-check the box to disable IPv6.
  7. Save settings.
  8. Exit.

There can be small variations on where the IPv6 tab is located. This will depend on the gateway.

You may also need to disable IPv6 on your device as well.

Let us know if this helps the connectivity!

Thanks, CalebP. I went through that routine, and turned off IPV6, Unfortunately, that one Fire TV device still defaults to channel 44, even though in the Gateway, channel 157 is available. I re-booted both the gateway, and that Fire stick, but that made no difference. Also, my laptop defaults to channel 44 as well, with no option to switch to another channel. My Android phone is still a question mark, as far as which channel it is using.

At the risk of showing my OCD side, I just checked NetSpot again. With IPV6 turned off, channel 157 now shows no signal at all. Channel  44 is strong and stabile, with speed to the Fire stick of 327 Mbps . . . WOW! Maybe I'm onto something here!
