New LiftMaster 828LM MyQ Internet Gateway will not connect to New ATT BGW320-500 Fiber Router/Gateway
I had an old "copper" ATT router/cable modem that my MyQ device was connected via ethernet to. It worked for many years. ATT upgraded me to fiber and installed the BGW320-500, and the MyQ device was not recognized by the BGW320-500, as in, it never showed up as a device as checked by ATT Tech Support nor in my SmartHome app. The ethernet light on the port it's plugged into is green. LiftMaster Tech Support said I needed a newer version of the MyQ gateway (old one dated 2014), so I bought one and tried everything with no luck - same exact problem. (New MyQ gateway dated 2021). Neither LiftMaster Tech Support nor ATT Tech Support had any idea of what was going on or how to fix it. I upgraded to fiber only to loose capability I had with my ancient cable modem. I have noticed many postings on the internet in various places that other people have had this exact same problem, but there has been no solution posted. Has anyone solved this problem?

Thank you for your suggestions. I just did both the factory reset and turned IPv6 off. It still doesn't want to connect to the internet, but I can see it in the device list. This has me completely baffled.

Have you tried the switch again, after these last changes?

One last Hail Mary from me. 😟
In the BGW....Home Network, Configure, change Ethernet on the port for the LiftMaster to something other than Auto? Don't forget Save.

I just ran into this same problem after moving from Spectrum to AT&T Fiber. I was able to workaround the problem using a Netgear N300 WiFi Range Extender (EX2700) that I already had in my laundry room to improve signal into garage. It has an ethernet port on bottom and after plugging the MyQ gateway in, it's working perfectly.

AT&T just (Edited per community guidelines). They won't switch me back and I have this same problem not only with my MyQ device, and my google home device keeps dropping the network. My TV did too until they hardwired it, you can't hardwire the google home I have. Thanks for sharing the info on the MyQ device.

I believe it has to do with VLAN settings needed for Fiber. I have identical tplink AX55 routers. Router 1 is the master and has the PPPoe login and VLAN set up. Router 2 is the slave and is set to accesspoint mode. 828LM wont work with either. But when I take Router 2 out of Accesspoint mode the 828LM will work on router 2 only. If I use a switch or another brand router to enable VLAN inbetween my main router and ONT box the 828LM will work. Basically the 828LM can't be directly connected to the device configuring the VLAN.

AT&T Fiber doesn't require any PPPoE login, nor is any VLAN tagging required, unless you're in some unsupported configuration trying to bypass the Gateway.

I had the same exact same problem and the easy fix is, connect your old modem to the new one, connect an Ethernet cable from the old one to the new one (AT&T) and then connect an Ethernet cable from the old modem to the MyQ gateway. That’s it. No configuration needed.
