New LiftMaster 828LM MyQ Internet Gateway will not connect to New ATT BGW320-500 Fiber Router/Gateway

I had an old "copper" ATT router/cable modem that my MyQ device was connected via ethernet to. It worked for many years. ATT upgraded me to fiber and installed the BGW320-500, and the MyQ device was not recognized by the BGW320-500, as in, it never showed up as a device as checked by ATT Tech Support nor in my SmartHome app. The ethernet light on the port it's plugged into is green. LiftMaster Tech Support said I needed a newer version of the MyQ gateway (old one dated 2014), so I bought one and tried everything with no luck - same exact problem. (New MyQ gateway dated 2021). Neither LiftMaster Tech Support nor ATT Tech Support had any idea of what was going on or how to fix it. I upgraded to fiber only to loose capability I had with my ancient cable modem. I have noticed many postings on the internet in various places that other people have had this exact same problem, but there has been no solution posted. Has anyone solved this problem?

I think I found other users experiencing the same problem as you while searching for an answer. Perhaps you can try using another WiFi/wired router behind BGW320 with DHCP enabled. Connect 828LM to that router and see if it can lease an IP successfully.

We're here to help point you in the right direction, NewToFiber1000!

Since your router is working as intended, if you plan to add a third party router we suggest making sure you have the correct IP Passthrough settings on your BGW320 during setup.

Since we do not support third party routers or equipment, we suggest reaching out to our paid service, AT&T Tech360. They bring you any type of comprehensive solutions to anything you may face.

Feel free to reach back out to us if you have any questions regarding your AT&T service. Thank you for being a valued member of AT&T!

Have tried using multiple different cables. Looking for another router around the house to try that.

Time to test it with another router behind BGW320 and if that fails too, trash that LM device :-) (kidding)

I forgot to ask you one thing, did you check the port settings to make sure they are all set to Auto? Perhaps you got a used BGW320 where some settings have been changed.

I tried an old Netgear RP614, but didn't solve the problem. I have located a new Netgear GS305 that I will be able to test tomorrow. Crossing my fingers. Connection I'll be testing: [MyQ Gateway - to GS305 - to BGW320]. I'll let everyone know how this goes.

@NewToFiber1000 I'm trying your fix - delivery tomorrow. I'm hopeful as I've gone through the same pain!

I am having the same issue and none of the solutions above have worked. I have a  BGW210 and am trying to connect a LiftMaster 828LM to manage my gate controller. The BGW210 has assigned an IP and mac and I can see it.  However, the 828LM is flashing green and cannot connect to the internet. I have opened TCP/IP 53 and TCP 8883 on the router. Pinging returns error. Purchased Netgear 305 and got the same result. This is my 3rd 828LM in 2 weeks. I have changed cables and tried all ports on the router. This device can only be connected wired. I know that there is something that I am missing. Any suggestions anyone?

Weird, the switch usually fixes the issue.  There's one thing you haven't mentioned and might be worth a try.  Unplug the 828LM and then do a factory reset on the BGW210 (hold down the red reset button for >15 secs) and wait for it to come back up. Note that this will undo the changes you've made to the BGW so you'll have to redo those.  You might also look to make sure that IPv6 (Home Network->IPv6) is OFF.

Plug the 828LM back in and see if it connects.
