Network trouble with zoom

Hello, I've used zoom videoconferencing without issues for some time on my home AT&T service (Internet 50). Lately, however, I have attended a handful of meetings with a large number of participants where zoom complains of an unstable internet connection or crashes. This happens on two different devices: a desktop PC and a Mac laptop. Smaller meetings still work fine, and no one else in the larger meetings is reporting any problem. Wi-fi strength is reported good on both devices, and speedtest varies, but should always be sufficient (20-50 Mbps). Is it possible something is going wrong between local AT&T network and zoom? (traceroute below) Any other troubleshooting advice would be appreciated.

My company uses Zoom and 8x8, and we've been seeing some more instability lately. Theory is that it's the increased volume of traffic on the WWW due to so many home bound users. I've also seen a couple of articles talking about that.

I am a professor and also offer additional education services. For the last month I have been experiencing connection issues with Zoom. At one point I was in the middle of lecture (103 students) and zoom just disconnected. I have constantly gotten the "unstable message." Recently, I was in the middle of a presentation with the assistant provost and my internet went out completely. It took 15 minutes for the wifi to come back on. I pay my bill every month. They claim I have 300 mbs of speed. I am not after speed. I just need a good stable connection so that I can work and continue to pay the bill.

Hi, @mces!

We know how important being able to video conference is right now. We have dedicated an entire support article to Video Conference Troubleshooting

We hope this helps!

If you continue to have issues, let us know what device you're using, if it doesn't connect at all or disconnects frequently and if you can or have tried a different device.
