Hello @ BobVeier,
We understand your concern and let’s help provide with the info that you need.
We recommend that you follow the troubleshooting steps below:
Press the WPS button on your wireless router and hold the Wireless button on the printer control panel for two seconds. Release the button when the wireless light starts blinking.
We hope this helps!

This is a well known issue (which Leon does not seem to understand) . Your fiber interface supports two networks, a 5ghz and a 2.4 ghz. Just connect your printer to the 2.4ghz network (SSID ends with _guest and a different password) and everything should work OK.

I have the same problem. I tried all the stuff suggested by Leon to no avail. The printer will not accept the network password.
Question to TexasBrit: Can you please explain to a novice how to configure the 2.4 gHz version of my network as guest and give it a new password? I tried that, but it does not accept it. I keep getting "network cannot be joined" message. How, exactly, can I set that up? Appreciate the attempt to help.

The 2.4 ghz guest network should already be there, but may be disabled. It has the same ssid as your main network but has _guest at the end of the SSID.
You can se it up thru your gateway.
Go to your printer and go to internet setup. In the list of available networks you should now see both the 5ghz and the guest network. Connect to the guest network

TexasBrit, Thanks for those details. I followed the steps and, online, everything looks great. I renamed the guest network and made a new password for it. The printer does see the network now, but it still says I have the password wrong. If it is me or the printer, I will just have to keep trying to see if I can work it out. I do appreciate your response, though, as I couldn't remember the site to change settings for the gateway.

I had the same problem, and figured out before reading this thread that it was a 5Ghz issue. My HP printer has a "5Ghz" option that I disabled. I also enabled the guest network as I wanted to put all our phones/iPads, plus a few work PCs on it. I managed to wrangle the aging HP printer to print off my Windows 10 desktop but it was painful. And it seems wonky.
After doing all this, I can no longer login to the gateway via any browser (Chrome/Firefox/Edge) via the 192.168.1.254 link. The attempt just times out.
I assume it will take a gateway reboot to do this.

The Guest Network is typically 2.4GHz only. If you point your 2.4GHz devices to that they should connect and work just fine. And, if you rename the Guest Network (SSID) to something else and give it it's own password, there should be no interfering with your private network so all of your other dual-band devices should connect to that without issue.
With my (Edited per community guidelines) printer I had to manually connect it to my re-named Guest Network from the printer config settings.

I am having the same problems. My HP 2540 Deskjet will not connect to the WiFi with my new AT&T Gateway Router. The two different networks, 5ghz and 2.4ghz, have the same WiFi name. That is how the technician that did the install set it up. If I cannot get this fixed I will go back to Spectrum, I need my WiFi printer. I am surprised AT&T has not addressed this. Its not only HP printers.
