How to reserve an IP address to a specific device

I prefer to reserve IP addresses versus asking a static to the device.  I have not been able to locate where I can do that in my AT&T router.

What I have determined is that once you rescan the devices it takes a little while for the list of these devices show up in the IP Allocation list.  When I went back to the clients home the list was updated and I was able to use the IP Allocation feature.  Thank you for your assistance.

Is the question how to setup static IPs?

Starts with purchasing a block of statics with associated monthly charges.

On my BGW-210, Home Network --> IP Allocation, I can set an allocation from the pool that will always be assigned to the selected MAC address.  Is this what you are looking for?

Thank you for your response.  I read that you supposedly can use IP Allocation but I cannot locate a list of ALL devices with the option for IP Allocation. There is a list of a subset of devices but none that I want to reserve.  :-(

@drcolema Has the device you want to allocate connected previously? I think the gateway is just pulling from its historical DHCP leases to populated this tab. I don't use this section, so I'm shooting in the dark. It appears to allow you to specify a 'static' private IP address to specific devices, but assigned over DHCP..

Straight from the IP Allocation tab:

"The IP Allocation table lists DHCP clients and IP Allocated clients. You may want to create an IP Allocated client so that it will always get the same IP address. The IP Allocated clients are still configured as DHCP clients at the client end, but will always be served the same IP address by the device DHCP server."

Hello @drcolema,
Thank you for reaching out to us! Let's work around and help you reserve an IP address on AT&T router.

To reserve an IP address on an AT&T router, you need to

  1. Type in your router's IP address in your browser's navigation bar to access the router's configuration tool.
  2. Find the DHCP reservation setting.
  3. Find the MAC address of the computer for which you want to reserve an IP address.
  4. Type that computer's MAC address into the first entry in the DHCP Reservation setting.
  5. Sign into your router/gateway using http://sm.att.com/966dc412 in your web browser.
  6. Click the 'Home Network' tab.
  7. Click 'IP Allocation'.
  8. Click 'Allocate'.
  9. Choose a public IP to assign to your specific device.
