How to make sure you are connecting to range extender Air 4921

AT&T Community Specialist,

I have AT&T Smart Extender - Air 4921 and I am seating most of the time next to it but my laptop is not connecting to it. I have one of the newest Lenovo Ideapad 3. I am looking at my connected devices in my Smart Home Manager app and it does not show my laptop connected to the range extender though I am 2.5 feet from the range extender. Lots of time when I am doing Zoom meeting I am getting message Your Internet is Unstable when I am literally right there. I have the latest version of Window 10 as well. In the Smart Home Manager app, I see a laptop connected to the main router.
