Gigabit Internet/Uverse Gateway
While speaking with AT&T customer service this morning about an unrelated wireless service upgrade, I was told that my house is eligible as of this week for Gigabit Internet/Uverse service[1].
The customer service rep mentioned the gateway would be a Cisco home/office gateway/router. Does anyone know specifically which unit is provided? More importantly, can the gateway be setup in "bridge mode" or can I use some other modem insted of an AT&T provided gateway[2]?
I assume this is the service referred to as "U-verse with GigaPower" so I am posting in this forum...

1-I live in the Dallas area.
2-I have WiFi coverage and routing taken care of with a Ubiquiti Networks Router and UniFi Access Points because I am one of those guys who thinks it's neat to have enterprise class network gear in his house. 🙂

So there is no way for a customer to buy their own gateway modem/router for the Gigapower ISP service?

Hi @wfiveash,
I am sorry for any of the inconveniences. The gateway required for the Gigapower service can only be leased. You still have the ability to use your own router by doing a router behind router setup with the U-verse Gateway.
