Gigabit download/upload speed

I've had 4 techs come out to look at this issue and 2 of them say there isn't a problem because their "special laptop" can get 600mbs down. Well, none my computers even see that and all of them have the appropriate NIC. I typically get 300 down 900 up. Any ideas what is going on?

are they connected straight to the gateway? or through a switch?

@HSVENGDAD you need a computer that can support Gigabit connections... if your Ethernet adaptor on the computer cannot support those inputs then you will never get it, and if your using wireless... good luck because you most likely will never hit the high numbers.

EDIT: here is a few links that goes over these things

Straight to the gateway.

I know better than to attempt this over Wifi. I'm using a wired connection, both NICs are gig capable, and I'm also using my own cat6 cables.

As I mentioned above, 4 techs have come out to troubleshoot this issue and nada.
