Frequent disconnects when using IP Passthrough
I have a dynamic dns service that runs on my router (ASUS RT-AX86U) which needs to have the proper public IP in order to work. So I setup my BGW320-500 in IP Passthrough to the router and disabled the Wifi on the BGW. My router obtained the public IP as expected and everything was working fine for a bit...but as I started watching content on my various devices, the video would cut out. I couldn't hit the BGW at all and when I logged into the ASUS router, it didn't detect a connection...then it would come back with the public IP and disconnect again. This would happen randomly and frequently to the point I couldn't use the internet. I disable IP passthrough and everything works perfectly (asides from my dynamic dns service which is reporting the IP assigned by the BGW DHCP). I have tried disabling all the firewall options, factory resetting both devices. Can anyone recommend something to try?

Well I think that might have been it. After switching the setting back to the 1G WAN port, switching my network cable to that WAN and turning IP Passthrough back on, it appears to be stable. Just did an hour long video conference call while having two other devices streaming video content and it didn't drop once. Gonna continue to monitor it overnight to make sure but already doing much better than before.

Have you looked in your ASUS' log for any entries around the time of the disconnection for hints as to what is going on?
Have you ever turned on Dual WAN on the ASUS? (Asking because I had a situation similar to yours after turning Dual WAN off after having configured it).

I'll check the logs but I don't recall anything standing out. Dual WAN is off but I have it set to use the 2.5g port which I could try switching back to the default 1g WAN.

@DigitalWhim Where did you change the port back to 1GB ? Modem? Or on your router?

On my router. The default WAN port is 1G and it has a 2.5G port as well which can be set to be the WAN, but that was giving me the instability.

@DigitalWhim @ATTHelp So i continue to have the same issue, I am plugged into a 1GB port on my router, disabled all other ports, tried everything. Had 3 different techs come out, and still same issue, frequent disconnection, but when IP passthrough is turned off the connection is stable...BUT this connection method doesnt work for me, because I require port forwarding...
I even went out and bought a BRAND NEW router, wifi APs, controller, everything ----SAME PROBLEM.
Clearly the issue is with AT&T, its going on 1 month since this problem has started, and I am to the point, I am leaving AT&T and going back to spectrum (though, I hate too!)...
Anyone has any suggestions?

What's your lease time on the IP Passthrough page? Is it still the default of 10 minutes? Change that to a day... or two.

I changed it to 99 days.

@whoezdaboss
Did changing the lease time to 99 days help? I’m in a similar situation after wasting >2 hours with “tech support” (No offense to them, they simply aren’t trained on this, only told to tell us, “We don’t support that.”)
What about the Default Server Address? That’s the one thing I hadn’t set. Does that need to be set to the router’s LAN IP? This is the one field no one has ever mentioned in the (few) user forums on this topic.
I’ve all but given up on this. But there are huge cost savings potential vs our cable company. FWIW, I’m using the AT&T 5G modem CGW450 All-Fi Hub for Internet Air (or whatever they call it). Seems this is an issue for users of all of AT&T’s modems.
