current firmware version of the bgw210-700?

1. What is the current firmware version of the bgw210-700?

2. And how often does this update to a new version?

3. I keep seeing my modem reboot itself every day or two. Could a firmare update be causing this?

Latest Firmware version is currently 3.20.5. The updates are rolled out as needed to fix bugs or issues or add new function. Yes it could be restarting trying to apply an update and failing. What Firmware version is currently on your installed unit?

3.20.5  Was just sent a new modem and it's having the same reset issue as my old one.  Just realized the modem they sent me is nearly 5 years old (but it has the latest firmware.)

A gateway on VDSL2/ADSL2+ may do a retrain on its own.  That pretty much looks like a reboot but isn't quite (service goes down, the lights blink like they do when it's booting).  They also can reboot due to either overheating or power issues.

Unless you have a separate ONT that your Gateway plugs into via an Ethernet cable, try going to http://192.168.1.254 , clicking on the Broadband tab and making a screenshot of the table(s) containing the sync rates, attenuation, noise margin and error counts and paste that in a reply.

The BGW210 is that old.  Anything you get will be recycled.

The device should not be rebooting itself.

I have a separate ONT device that the modem plugs into.  We replaced it today and are hoping that fixes things. TBD.

Hello @hawkeye69, thank you for letting us know you may have found a workaround for the modem.

Please feel free to let us know how it works out. If it is still rebooting itself, we will be happy to take a closer look into it. Thank you for contacting the AT&T Community Forums team.

The replacement of the modem and the ONT device did NOT fix the issue. The modem dropped its connection again today. The firmware didn't update to a newer version, so I'm guessing that wasn't the issue.  I'm to the point of thinking a 5 year old modem is simply worn out and failing without any event logs to
to help rectify or identify the root cause.

The ATT technician suggested moving to a newer modem model/technology. That will likely be our next step.

I'm having this same issue with 3.20.5. I have never had any issues with my connection, and within the last few weeks or so I'll get intermittent reboots, once every day or so. I've narrowed down the issue to the router I believe, even my wired connections are going down while the router reboots. Is there anything I can do or do I need an AT&T tech to come out and replace the AT&T equipment/router or modem?

No need for a tech for a BGW210-700 replacement. If needed a replacement unit will be shipped to your for a simple self-install replacement.

First have you tried a soft reset or a Factory reset?

Soft reset - hold the Red button on the back of the Gateway for less than 10 seconds and it will reset. For a Factory reset - hold the Red button on the back of the Gateway for longer than 15 seconds.

Note: All custom settings you may have made to Port Forwarding, Gateway or Wi-FI SSID / password will be reset during a Factory reset.

You can also run the trouble shooting tools at this link https://ufix.att.com/portal/index.html

Finally you could call 1-800-288-2020.
