BGW 320-500 Gateway does not connect to Netgear Prosafe managed switch

Initial set up - BGW 320 > Netgear managed Switch JGS524E > Wired network.
Worked fine for a year; I wasn't even aware if IP passthrough was used. Then a short while back ethernet connections started failing;  then stopped working total after a couple of restarts..

Called support. Swapped out an older BGW 320 with a newer BGW 320-500; connected the Netgear switch but the gateway does not seem to recognize the switch. Wifi works fine.
As per ATT tele-support's recommendation, on 192.168.1.254  I chose 'Passthrough Fixed MAC Address (from the switch), rebooted many many times. The gateway doesn't seem to connect with the switch.
Wifi stops working if the gateway and switch are connected with a cable.
Tried an unmanaged Tp-link switch with no change.

Would appreciate any responses from folks who have faced anything similar on getting a fiber gateway to work with a managed switch.

Thanks.

Fixed - with a factory reset of the Netgear switch and rebooting both.
Also, Gateway >Firewall > IP Passthrough > DHCPS Fixed.

You shouldn’t have ip passthrough to the switch. If no third party router is in place turn off ip passthrough to the switch.

@browndk26 - Thanks for the insight, I'll try that...later. Right now, I am just glad that the endless reboots and calls to att support are over! I do wish that the support personnel - they were very nice and patient - were able to provide such insights...
