Have a cisco switch attached to BGW320-505. Modem router sees switch and assigns an IP address. will not assign IP addresses to devices attached to the switch

I have the same issue with a basic witch . I am using a 3Com "Basline 10/100 Switch" "SuperStack 3" 3C16465B.
Old configuration was a Spectrum Modem in front of a Netgear R7800. Plug and play. I could attached devices to the switch and the Netgear would recognize and assign an IP.
With the BGW320-505 it recognizes the switch and assigns an IP address to it but that's as far as it goes.

So you said it was a Cisco switch then you replied to yourself that you have a 3Com switch. So which is it?

That model is an unmanaged switch from what I can see. I have no idea why the gateway would be assigning it an IP address.

Have given up. Turned off radios and put the NexGear router in between ATT Fiber Modem/router and switch
