Hey @wally929, we hear you!

Please sign up for updates about an outage, and we’ll also let you know when it’s over.

  1.  Sign in to http://sm.att.com/fc281e32.
  2.  Select Get text updates now. (You’ll only get alerts for the current outage, not future ones)

To add on, you can get outage alerts on myAT&T app, go to your myAT&T profile. Sign in, if asked.

Select Internet and scroll to Service Alerts to update your notification settings.

You can also enable notifications in Smart Home Manager

Hope this information helps!

Because the phone reps don’t have access to that info. Have you called to report service is out? Major outage in the area?

Have you unplugged your gateway and plugged it back in to see if your service is back up?

Did all the recommended stuff.   Att support is a myth.  No one is manning the phones or monitoring the chatbots.  Never received any update or response to service requests.  Internet finally restored after about 70 hours.

We hear you @wally929. This is not the way we want our customers to feel about our service.

In future if you face any internet outage, you can Check for outages, and troubleshoot gateway by following the steps mentioned below.

1. Restart your gateway or modem manually

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem. If you have an internal battery backup, remove it
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Put the internal battery back in if you have one.
  4. Wait for the gateway or modem to restart and your Broadband light to turn solid green. This can take up to 10 minutes.

2. Use Smart Home Manager to restart your gateway

  1. Sign in to Smart Home Manager and select Network.
  2. Scroll to and select Home Network Hardware.
  3. Select Wi-Fi Gateway and then Restart.
  4. Select Restart again.

Hope this helps!

Please reach out to us for any further assistance. We'll be happy to help you.

ATTHelp,

Did you not read my post?  I followed all the steps you mentioned and received no human feedback from AT&T.  I was only asking AT&T to update progress during an outage which was clearly on their end and lasted almost 3 days.  Many of my neighbors had the same issues and frustration.  I am fortunate that I have a backup 5G hotspot with Verizon that provided me access during AT&T's outage.

We've had ATT U-verse Internet service going on 20 years. Since earlier this year ATT U-verse Internet has gone from 5 stars to 1 star due to repeated outages.  Everytime we lose Centerpoint Energy Grid Power, the local neighborhood distribution panel fails in less than 60 seconds; whereas, previously it would remain powered for 24h (to the minute) with an onboard UPS system.  We just experienced out 4th ATT U-verse outage in as many weeks. This one due to a cooling fan failure in that same distribution panel.  This time are at 48 hours and counting without ATT U-verse functionality.   Past time to investigate alternative Internet Service as ATT U-verse is unreliable...
