Who to contact at ATT rew getting fiber into our community

Recently ATT has run fiber down the main street outside our community which is gated.  What phone number can I call at ATT to find out if there is a plan to install fiber service into our community or find out how to request AT&T to put our community into its plan.  I currently have AT&T Uverse for internet but really would like to get a speed boost at a reasonable price.

Your neighborhood can't just be added to a existing Fiber that passes your neighborhood. It needs to be a Fiber upgrade or expansion. That new Fiber could be dedicated for another purpose and not residential service.

Since you mentioned you currently have Uverse service your neighborhood may be upgraded for Fiber since part of the Infrastructure is already in place. AT&T has been upgrading select areas with Uverse to Fiber.

AT&T does not announce specific neighborhoods or streets. Do you have overhead utilities or buried utilities?

Do you have a neighborhood HOA or POA and how large is your neighborhood? (only need a general number)

The only way for you to know officially  is when AT&T starts work.

Buried utilities . HOA. 80 homes.  I was told by an AT&T tech here on a phone line issue that there probably is a plan to run the fiber into our community but given that it’s gated, it would require HOA approval.  I’m on the HOA Board and would be happy to bring it up for approval.  I’d just like to know if and when there is a plan.

As @dave006 commented, AT&T doesn’t announce fiber expansion plans.

We understand fast internet is a must, @Salmon230!

Here are some reasons why fiber may not be available in your area:

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.
  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
  3. The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.
  4. Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!

Note: In order to get higher speeds, you must be within a certain distance of the serving equipment or the equipment must be present in the area. Points 1 and 2 apply in these scenarios. If internet is not available, there are other options.

If you believe it should be available in your area, but it doesn't show up when you try to order service, you can fill out an address research request. Just fill out the form, and we'll look into it and get back to you!

Finally, we recommend signing up for fiber notifications. When fiber is available in your area, we'll let you know!

If you have any other questions, just let us know! Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums!
