moving fiber optic modem to computer area with fiber optic cable extender?

Would it be better to use a fiber optic cable extender and move ATT fiber optic modem to another room or just go with ethernet cable?

We are happy to help you with this, @JOS

There is something we need to clarify with you to help you the best way we can:

When you say Fiber Optic Cable, are you talking about the Fiber Optic cable coming to your home or the Ethernet cable from the Optical Network Terminal - ONT (the small white box on the wall) to your modem?

If it is the Ethernet cable you are talking about, you can actually do either.  An Ethernet Extender or a longer Ethernet cord will work just fine.  We use standard CAT5 or CAT6, and various lengths can be purchased at many local retailers.

Please let us know if this addressed your question. We look forward to continue working with you.
