Free antivirus for Apple MacBook Air?

I am using the free ATT antivirus for my Windows 10 laptop.

This is a McAfee product that I get because I have ATT Internet.

My daughter just bought an Apple MacBook Air. I think I'm allowed to protect up to 4 devices. I would like to add her device.

I can't find out how to download the product though. I found a page that says to click "get it", but instead of getting the download, I am redirected to McAfee. McAfee asks me which paid Plan I want.

Am I doing something wrong? What do I need to do?

You don't really need to install an anti-virus program on her MBAir. The built-in security on the MB Air is pretty good. I've never used an anti-virus program on any of my Apple computers since they were first introduced. As long as she is aware of what she's doing and not visiting sites she shouldn't she'll be fine.

To my knowledge apple/Mac has never needed a third party virus or malware program

Turns out McAfee has a known bug. They're working on it and gave me a workaround for now.

Thanks for the other helpful suggestions.
