Fiber contract scam?

Our business has been getting emails from a "Robert Miller" [email scrubbed] saying we must renew our fiber contract. They also call from 877-694-1533 very suspiciously and when put on hold they just hang up. What is going on....this seems like a scam. Surely AT&T would send us a LETTER? (They have not).

Not just have random people calling and emailing ominously. Any confirmation on this? Thank you.

Web searching shows that phone number to be one associated with a scam.

What web searching? 2 people on 800 notes saying they were asked for an account number and that 'they' think it's a scam? Not a definitive answer.

Update: Man says he is from "Alliance Channel supporting AT&T" - so do they use 3rd parties or not? His email signature:

It's sometimes hard to tell when someone is independent or not, especially when they're trying hard to give you the impression that they are not.  There's also one consultancy that's wholly owned by AT&T, but it's not exactly AT&T.

My suggestion would be go directly to AT&T and ask them.  You might get an answer from ATThelp here, but that's the only official answer you're going to get.  If you have a fiber "contract" that probably means you're a business, and that probably means you'd be better served in the business forums:
