False Collections Reporting
When I signed back up for DirecTV it was explained to me that I could save an additional $10 if I bundled my internet with them. I already had internet, so they explained to me that I had to create a “new” internet account to get the bundling to work. This sounded odd since I already had an account with them. Whatever...let’s save this money. Long story short, a new account was created and the accounts were eventually bundled. Great. Then why am I still getting bills for the now-canceled account? Hmm. Not one, but two billing cycles I was billed for the canceled account. They were basically charging me twice for the same IP address. Three separate lengthy calls later, I thought it was resolved. An ATT rep had told me the account was closed and that the debt would be erased since charging for the same service is wrong. Cool.
Well today I received a collections notice for the amount owed ($186) when they were double-charging me for internet. I’m curious if this happened to anybody else and how you got it resolved, since speaking to ATT directly did absolutely nothing. I really don’t want to go to court over $186, but I am not being forced into paying this money!
