Being charged $99 tech visit fee because a tree fell on the fiber line due to a storm. I need to dispute this fee.

There was a terrible storm a few weeks ago, and a tree came down and took the ATT fiber line down with it. The line was suspended from the pole across the street to my house, so it ended up coming down onto the public road as well. I called ATT, neighbors called ATT and non-emergency police due to the line down across the road.

The next morning, the line guy was out there, and he cut all of the lines coming from the pole to my house (2 were old lines that weren't needed anyway). Later, the very unprofessional technician came out (outside of the scheduled time window) and said: "Nothin' I can do. Gonna have to get that tree moved first." I am being charged $99 for that (literally nothing - the guy was there for 2 minutes and called my cell phone), and I do not agree with this fee. Isn't this considered an 'act of God'?

What should I do?

Many thanks,

Rachel H.

Call 800-288-2020. Say billing. Dispute the charge.

I spoke to a representative, and she removed the service fee. She was fantastic and stayed on the phone with me until I could see the correct bill amount on my end.
