Two microcells going "bad" ?

Last week my venerable 5 year old Cisco DPH-154 microcell, just upped and died. It first gave me the flashing red light, then the solid red light ("It's dead Jim"), then just failed to power up at all, no light. So I went to my trusty used electronics dealer, eBay, and got another one.

The new one likewise fails to do anything. Stays nice and dark. Hitting reset did nothing. Swapping out various power supplies, both remained goners. Any idea why two units should both be dead like this. Is it just coincidence or has there been some weird ATT tricks that would even prevent them from powering up at all?

@Distantsuns The MicroCell was discontinued at the end of 2017. The service itself will discontinued altogether no later than Feb. 2022 once AT&T shutdowns their 3G service completely. Some service areas are already shutting down 3G. You can not register any new 3G device, including the MicroCell on AT&T now because of the impending shutdown.

We have been mentioning this upcoming shutdown for years now. What is recommended is WiFi Calling (WiFi-C) if your phone is capable,  purchase a cellular booster, or switch to another carrier who offers better coverage in your area.

There is no weird ATT trick that would prevent them from powering up. You do realize the microcell is no longer supported, right? Even if you got the replacement to power up, it’s unlikely you could activate it. Even if you could, no microcells will work past next February.
