Nokia cell booster (femetocell)
I just received a cell booster from ATT. Model SS2FII femtocell multi-band soho. The power LED blinks white and the internet LED blinks orange. The Nokia manual says I need to open udp port 150, 4500, and 123 but I can’t open these ports without the IP address. Does this unit have a default IP? I can’t see it on my network yet my old 3g microcell works just fine using the same network cable. I don’t know how to get this working and no one from ATT can help.

So I have the micro cell installed and AT&T says it’s up and running (and the phone app concurs). However my phone seems to ignore it. No “Mcell” appears where the signal bars are, so the phone is just pulling from local towers. I’ve reset the phone but still it ignores the microcell which is up and running just feet away. Any ideas?

I have the same situation as hollyjoy93. Lights are good, confirmation received that I am all set, app says all is good, but my phone says I'm connected to AT&T. With my older microcell it used to say "MCell". Am I supposed to have some indication that I'm on the femtocell? Also, with the microcell there was a web page for configuring what phones were authorized to use it. No mention of that. In fact very little in the way of documentation/information.

@hollyjoy93 and @biblio I am trying to find that information. My guess is that AT&T still needs to push out an update so that the alpha tag will be displayed on the phone. What you could do is turn off the Cell Booster and walk around your house checking the incoming cellular signal. Then turn the Cell Booster back on, and when all is good, repeat the walk around and see if there is any difference in signal strength. And do keep WiFi enabled all of the time.
As far as authorized users, it appears at this point in time that any AT&T user who is within range of the Cell Booster can use it if their phone meets the LTE requirements. There is no way of knowing which phones are using the Cell Booster as there is no Settings page like there was with the MicroCell. Hopefully this is a feature that will be added soon once AT&T works out the many issues with the initial release of the Cell Booster. The idea of anyone using your Cell Booster is a major security oversight in my opinion.
I will be updating my MicroCell Technical Guide in the next couple of weeks for the Cell Booster so it will be a one-stop Guide to all things Cell Booster related.

@OttoPylot Why do you call it a "Cell Booster"? The Nokia SS2FII is a femtocell, not a cell booster. It is providing the same function as a cell tower but of much more local range, and backhauling the call over my Internet connection. It isn't "boosting" the signal from a regular cell tower. Yes, there are boosters out there, but this device isn't a booster.
More than just a security oversight, not letting me control which phones can use my femtocell is quite rude if it is giving others in my vicinity phone service that is carried over my broadband Internet connection that I pay for.

You are correct- it’s a microcell, not a booster. My error. And the doc provided says that no user list is needed - it will accept any phone in its range (I wish I knew what that was).
I see no signal strength from this unit as I approach it nor as I depart. The only bars I have are from the trad. tower a few miles away.
The unit looks to all appearances as though it’s functional but is simply not connecting w my (or any) phone nearby.

Because that's the branding the marketing "geniuses" have attached to the product. The branding was universally condemned by the ACEs giving an opinion, but we were not consulted. Had we been consulted, I'm sure we would have been ignored anyway.

….and oh btw the users manual that AT&T has online appears to be the one for the older 3G unit that the new Nokia unit has replaced. I was hoping to read up on my new box but, hey, no go.

@hollyjoy93 and @biblio I'm actually glad to hear that you two are both getting the same behavior from the Cell Booster as I am, per my other thread in the forum... misery loves company and all.
An AT&T tech support rep called me yesterday, and we spent over an hour doing testing and troubleshooting on the issue, while she collected data from her side. We couldn't get it working, but confirmed that my Cell Booster appears to be working properly from their end, and that they can see my two phones occasionally connecting to it, though they drop from it within a minute. She escalated my case to their engineering team, who we're now waiting on for an update.
Even though the Cell Booster just shows 'AT&T' as its tag, I can confirm I'm connected to it by seeing a full 4 bars versus the 0-1 I get from outside towers, and if I turn wifi on the phone off I get 'LTE' for data from it, which I never get at my house from outside towers, only getting '4G' data from them; also, the '4G LTE' light on the Cell Booster flashes white when a phone is connected to it, presumably showing activity.

@Nemesis_Prime Hmm. Interesting. I just noticed that the 4G LTE white light does flash on occasion on the device. Rapid flashing for 3-4 seconds and then it stops. The tag on my iPhone consistently says "AT&T". When I am home I never see "LTE" in the tag, the WiFi indicator is usually in that portion of the screen. With the 3G microcell it used to say "M-Cell" instead of "AT&T".
