Yahoo IOS app gives “Bad Request” after changing/updating my ATT email password.

I updated my AT&T password and now when I try and log in using my iPad and the Yahoo Mail ios app, I enter my email address, and instead of redirecting me to the AT&T login option, it just shows a white screen that says “Bad Request” at the top, and that’s as far as I can get. I CAN log in using the new password with a browser and the Yahoo Mail app on my Android phone. Any suggestions?

Hi all,

We are aware of the "Bad Request" customers are seeing when trying to set up email on a smartphone or tablet. We are working on addressing it.

In the meantime, please use the Yahoo Mail app or webmail to sign in.

Greetings @Cryptical!

Let's look into helping you access your MyAT&T using your updated password on your iPad through Yahoo Mail ios app.

  • First, have you ever been able to access your AT&T on your iPad and prior to the password update? If so, and if you haven't already tried, power the device off for several seconds than back on again. This action clears the device's cache of any corrupted data.

Also, you may need to authenticate that email app using OAuth which is a new new email login technology implemented by AT&T and Yahoo. Among the list of OAuth compatible mobile devices are Yahoo Mail app on iPhones and iPads running iOS 9.0 and above.

Let us know how this helps.

I’ve restarted the device several times, updated the yahoo app and still nothing. Bad request. This is really ridiculous. It works just fine on my iPhone. Not so on my iPad.

I’ve tried everything. Nothing is working. I spoke with AT&T helpdesk yesterday. Nothing they tried worked. May try to call back tonight after work, but I’m not hopeful there’s a solution for this. I’m wondering if it’s an iPad OS/app issue, although the helpdesk person I spoke with (Kevin) said he definitely saw an issue with my profile.

I’m going to delete the app and download again. I’ll give you an update.

Nope, nothing. Still get “bad request”. Must be the iPad update. Very annoying.

I have the same exact issue, which started 3 days ago when I changed my yahoo password.  Prior to that I had absolutely no issues with any device.  Signing into yahoo mail via a web browser works fine.

SITUATION STEPS:

* Changed my yahoo mail password.

* The yahoo app worked on iphone8.

* The yahoo app stopped working on iPhone7 and iPad.

* All 3 devices are on iOS 14.2.

* Deleted the yahoo app on the 2 devices that no longer have a workable yahoo app.

* I redownloaded the yahoo apps to both devices.

* When I launch the yahoo app on these two devices I receive the "sign in to  yahoo mail" screen.

*  I am able to enter my email.

* When I hit the "next" button the password screen does not display.  Instead a   "bad request" message displays at the top.

Please advise as to what is going on and what should be done to correct the problem.

I gave up on the Yahoo App on my iPad, and a couple of weeks later I thought I’d try to open it again and it worked! Either the app was updated or one of the iPads updates cleared the issue? No clue. But it works now!
