What is in the "Carrier Settings Update"

I am getting a "Carrier Settings Update" notice on my AT&T iPhone SE.  I would like to determine what it does or is for before installing.  Under the General Settings my phone is currently showing AT&T 28.3 beside "Carrier".

Thanks for your help.

AT&T is your cellular CARRIER. These are CARRIER SETTINGS.

SETTINGS from your CARRIER, who is AT&T.

Hi - just saying...I find it COMPLETELY baffling and quite unacceptable that AT&T would release an update, that the details of which, cannot be provided to their customer base - 1 full month and a half after actually releasing it?!?  I mean, SERIOUSLY??!!??  This is incredibly irresponsible and like I've already indicated, just makes no sense at all.

My husband and I, currently both on Carrier AT&T 28.3 are getting popups on our phone that we have a carrier update.

Normally I would just download, but with all the Cyber attacks happening this past weekend, am not willing to click on anything.

My daughter is also getting this on her iphone5.

Can you confirm if there is a new carrier update or not.

Thank you.

Hello @rduser2k17,

I apologize for the inconvenience the lack of information about updates has caused.  I would feel the same way if I was you.   Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

I will pass your feedback along to the proper channels to review and look into ways to improve customer satisfaction when it comes to software updates.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback.  Have a great rest of the day!

@ATTMobilityCare Unfortunately, 28.3 is not the most recent update. 28.3 is from months ago. The most recent update is 28.4 and customers are anxiously waiting for info on what it contains.

I wonder if Apple has something to do with it so they can have people running to the stores to buy their upgraded iPhones because their sales have been really low. I got the pop up on my phone as well IPhone 6s Plus and was immediately suspicious of it so I didn't click on it. Good Luck!

After about a week, I got another pop-up that said I needed to authorize Wi-Fi calls on my phone. 🙄 So I went into the settings manually yesterday and authorized them. That seems to have taken care of the problem.

I'm guessing that since AT&T released this one without an iOS update, there were a few bugs they weren't expecting. I will think twice before I update anything outside of an Apple update again.
