Weak WiFi security after IOS 14 update

After updating to IOS 14 on my iPhone 11 Pro and my Apple IPad, I get weak security messages on both. I read where my modem needs to be upgraded to WPA 2 or 3, is my system protected? What do I do?

Hi @GrandmaCarol1227

Thank you for reaching out to us. We'll be happy to assist you. Check your router security setting to make sure it’s WPA2 (AES). If you need assistance with that, reach out to your internet service provider. If we're your ISP, please let us know and we can proceed from there.

The security of your WiFi router is unchanged.  It’s just now that Apple is flagging that the older WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) is not as secure as WPA2 (AES) or WPA3.  Like everything else in the cyber security world, standards are evolving and the newer standards are probably more secure.  That said, whether you actually need more security for your home WiFi is an open question.
