We had to cancel your unlock request (iPhone 6)

A co-worker was kind enough to give me an iPhone 6 that i have been trying to unlock from AT&T. We need the phone for an au pair living with us and added the line to my wife's current plan with Verizon. I keep submitting the request online and then getting unablle to confirm my request responses. Have called customer service and told submitting online is the way you need to do it. What am i missing? This phone hasn't been used in quite some time and paid off long ago...

Please help.

Looks like you didn't confirm your request.

Device IMEI number: xxxxxx
Request number: xxxxxxx

Hi CHRIS,

The link we sent you was only good for 24 hours. Submit a new request when you're ready to try again.

Did you know that it isn't always necessary to unlock a device if you're planning a trip?

Hello @chgorman,

We can absolutely provide you with some more information about the unlock process. When you submit an unlock request, you must open the confirmation email and click the link to confirm the request within 24 hours, or your request will be denied. The confirmation email is usually received within minutes of submitting your request. If you did not receive the confirmation email for your most recent unlock request, please check and see if it was routed to your junk mail or another folder.

If an hour has passed and you still haven't received it, you'll need to resubmit your online request after your current request is denied within two business days. Also, please review our Unlock eligibility requirements before you submit your next unlock request. You may even need to use a different email address, or a different device to submit the next unlock request and check for the confirmation email.

Let us know if this helps.

Hi Sean,

Thank you for looking into my issue. I have been clicking the link to confirm right away each time i have made a request. I am able to check the status after confirmation without any issues. I have received the unlock request cancellation email each time...I even had an AT&T support rep check my status from their side while on the phone with them this past weekend.

I'm open to trying other suggestions if you have them and have a new open unlock request for you to look at...

Thanks,

Chris

Hello @chgorman,

Thank you for letting us know. We're glad to hear that you were able to submit another device unlock request. Did you already receive the confirmation email and click the link to confirm your request? Please let us know. If you don't receive the confirmation email or the unlock request is cancelled due to not confirming, please try using a different email address, or a different device to submit the next unlock request and check for the confirmation email. We look forward to hearing back from you.

Unable to unlock this iPhone 6 and giving up. Good news is that cell phone service provider saw our frustration and was able to overnight a brand new iPhone 6S, free of charge and allowed us to use the same phone # we setup for the unlockable iPhone 6.
