Waited almost 2 hours -iPad no longer get 4G

I was on hold for what I was told would be 10 minutes (being transferred from another dept). I waited 1 hour and 45 minutes only to get a recording that ATT could not take my call at this time, call back later. Really?

Eep! Let's see if we can fix the issue! What kind of iPad do you have? When did the issue start happening? What steps have you tried thus far?

Thanks for the quick response. I've had the iPad 2 since it came out, with 4G. I went to Canada recently and my business manager purchased a plan so I could use my iPhone 5s and the iPad there. But the 4g wasn't working there. I received a message at some point that my usage was high, which I sent back to my manager to handle.

When I returned to the US, the iPad would still not access 4g, so I can't use the iPad in the car, etc. My iPhone however, has not been a problem and is able to get 4g. Since the first bill they sent was also almost $800, (so high they sent it in a video - however I hear now that was wrong and it's more like $300 - 2 phones, 2 iPads), it seems likely the problem is somehow connected to the Canadian plan...?

Thanks for any help.

@unhappywithwaiting9 ,

This may sound like a silly question, but does the iPad have a AT&T SIM card in it? What's the indicator when you turn the iPad on?

If you have the iPad with a AT&T SIM card in it, please try Resetting the Network Settings. You can do this by going to settings > general > reset > reset network settings 🙂

The bill was most likely high because in Canada, you were roaming from one or the local carriers there. Once you went over the alloyed amount (I think the highest is 120MB), you would be charged overages for the usage.

Please let me know the results!

I do see ATT at the top left. I've had this iPad 2 since it first came out.

If I have the settings on wireless only, cellular data off, then it says:

"iPad" and the symbol for connection

If I have cellular on and data roaming on, it has the dots (all but the last one are black) and "AT&T"

My iPhone shows the same only it is not having any problem accessing 4g, so it's showing 4g at the top. So it's not the area.

Thank you for the info! Is there a E or 4G symbol after the AT&T? If so, try enabling cellular data, making sure that enable 3G/4G toggle is switched on. And feel free to turn off Roaming.

If that doesn't work, try resetting the network settings as I previously mentioned 😃

Let us know the results!

Thanks for trying to help. As I said, there is no 4G symbol at all, that's the problem. On my iPhone, I can see 4G only after I enable cellular deta. On the iPad, there is no 4G showing at all. (and there is no E).

Okay, and what about when performing the reset the network settings option? Does that help?

If it still happens, it seems you will need to restore the iPad with the factory default settings. I would suggest backing up all of your data before doing so. You can do this via iTunes and selecting back up then Restore.

Let us know this outcome!

Waiting for iPad to recharge. I meant 3g on the iPad, btw, but you probably figured that. 4g on my 5s iPhone.

Yes I knew what you meant. 😃 Did you try the factory reset? What was the outcome?
