Using an eSim from local carrier in India on an iPhone 14 Pro Max that is under contract

Hello,

Are we able to add a local eSim in India (from Airtel etc.) on a locked iPhone 14 (any model)?

When i say locked = bought under installment plan.

Any inputs would be very helpful.

Thanks!

No.

You would have to pay off the phone in order to unlock it to be able to use the esim with a different service provider. AT&T's policy has always been that phones are carrier locked, both SIM cards are locked, until the phone is paid off and you request unlocking online.

Pay off installment

If you are receiving credits on your current phone, paying off your phone could result in termination of credits. It depends on what type of promotion you took part in. If you are already getting credits, and participated in a trade-in deal, credits would not terminate. But the no trade-in required deals require that you keep your installment for the full 36 months in order to continue getting credits
