Unlock Apple Sim / Carrier Reveal Program on iPad Pro

Hello, I bought an iPad Pro and the ESim/Apple SIM is locked to ATT and I cannot see any other carrier to activate to, I travel a lot and need to be able to use the E Sim to switch carriers. Apple states that ATT needs to do a carrier visibility/reveal request for me, but everytime I call they just tell me to go to the deviceunlock page.

Can anyone help?

Hello @Oscarg321, allow us to lend a helping hand. In order to unlock your device, you would have to submit a request in our Unlock portal. We recommend confirming that the device is eligible to be unlocked by reviewing our Eligibility requirements. Once you confirm that the device is eligible, then you can submit a request. Thanks for reaching out to us.

Sorry but this does not work. Already tried. Due to me trying to unlock The embedded Apple SIM on the iPad Pro. The IMEI will say invalid on the carrier unlock page.

This is is the right solution however I can’t get a representative that knows what I’m talking about.

Hi @Oscarg321, and thanks for the feedback!

In order to receive carrier visibility towards your iPad Pro, the device must be paid in full with no remaining monthly commitments or installments.

If the device has met all requirements, you will have to contact our Advance Technical Support Team at: 800.331.0500 to receive carrier visibility.

We hope this information helps.

I just called this number and I keep getting bounced between different people, this is so frustrating. When I call and say Advanced Tech Support, it asks me what device and that department just routed me to finance twice.

Hello @Oscarg321!

Please click the envelope icon in the banner and search for a private message (PM) from ATTCares. There, you'll want to respond to that message with your requested account details so that we may review your case.

I look forward to assisting you!

If anyone is wondering how great customer service is, let me tell ya! They give you a phone number where you get bounced from rep to rep who has no idea what I'm talking about until ultimately you're told "You're speaking with sales and we can't help you if you're not an ATT customer"

Love how a simple solution is taking more than 15 people (yes that's how many different people I've spoken to) and still can't have a solution.

Moral of the story, ATT has the best CS EVER!!!

Did you ever have any luck in getting a service agent to make the request for you?

I tried calling the number above. I was bounced to 5 people from Advanced Technical Support to Activation Department then to Advanced Technical Support again.  They have no idea what I am talking about.

All of them are following a script, a flowchart of what they will ask, and they keep telling me over and over again that I have to go to the AT&T unlock website.  I was already telling them to enter the 32 digit EID/CSN number that I have and de-activate the eSIM from their system.  They have no idea.

After 3 hours on the line, I quit.

This is a known “problem” with the Apple iPad is eSim from day one. The embedded eSim for the Apple iPad if it is purchased from an activated on AT&T from the start you can never unlock the eSim it is stuck on AT&T.

Hopefully this will be changed in the future.

If you purchase the iPad somewhere else, like Best Buy or Apple directly you avoid this particular problem

That is not true.  You can buy from Best Buy or Apple directly.  All carriers will be shown on a fresh unit but once you activate a data plan to AT&T with the eSIM, you are stuck.

One individual was able to unlock the Apple SIM (which I assume to be the same a eSIM except it is not soldered on the board).  Here's the post:
