Unlock a device involved with H2O

I finished my iphone 7 contract 2 years ago, and I made the biggest mistake switching to H2O before unlocking this phone. When I tried to unlock it last week, I got   "Looks like the device you want to unlock is active on another AT&T account. " message, and after a week of researching, I saw someone in the forum got into the same problem- the iphone was locked into H2O,  or seemingly another ATT account. I really don't know how to get out of this grey area. Please help.

Thanks for your post, @revivalliu.

We understand you're having issues unlocking your device.

  • Have you been using your iPhone 7 with H20 for the last two years?
  • Are you using the AT&T Unlock Portal?

Please provide just a few more details so we can provide support. Thank you!

Update. After a week and long calls, ATT finally managed to unlock it for me.

I'm having the same issue but when I call the number it tells me to call there are no options, if you say unlock it tells you to go online.      What department did you ask to speak to and what did you say?

I am having the same issue and my phone has not been used for the last 1 year but has the carrier lock. How did AT&T resolve the carrier lock issue?

I have an AT&T phone that I have been using with H20 for almost a year. I need to unlock it for a trip overseas. Please advise.

I have an unlocked phone, using h2o on it. I lost it recently, and reported, took new sim card and using it. after few days i found the phone with some one, now the phone is in locked status. not able to activate that. when I spoke with an agent in H2o, he told me to contact AT&T, is it possible to unblock the device?

@ravikota

'Block status' is not the same as carrier lock. You reported your phone lost so it has been blacklisted. Whoever you contacted (H2O) to blacklist the phone is the same you have to contact to remove it from the blacklist. I would assume that would be your H2O service provider not AT&T
