Unable to upgrade on installment plan
I joined att in store today and was promised i can preorder the new iPhone 13 for the 1000 trade in deal on both my first net and regular act. Now online reps are telling me this isn't possible. This is a deal breaker bc I only switched for the promotion but every rep I have spoke to since I left the 2 hours I spent in store to switch say they'r unsure about what they are saying. Why can't I get one answer so I know before preorders start. I hate being baited and switched.

We can definitely provide you the answers about iPhone 13 Preorders through AT&T @rntjd2020!
Please know that FirstNet (with an eligible installment plan) and new and existing AT&T wireless customers, can preorder the iPhone 13 starting on 9/17/2021. It will be move to general availability on 9/24/2021.
As the ACE member explained, you would have to preorder the new iPhone at the time your AT&T account was activated.
You can still preorder the device, but there is a wait process.
We hope this info is helps, and reach back to us if you have additional questions!

I was just informed by an agent in your retention that I would not be able to preorder bc there is a 60-90 day wait when you port in. By that time the trade in offer will no longer be valid. I will be returning to the store today so they can undo everything since they misled me.

Sorry, but that's not a bait and switch. If you did not pre-order the iPhone 13 as a part of your joining At&t, but instead joined as a BYOD, you have to wait.

If you are told you can do one thing in order to join but turns out you can’t do what you were told at time of switching. Then yes that is that the literal definition of bait and switch. If I needed to do something different then I should’ve been informed.

Hi there!
I'm part of a family plan with 4 iPhones. My iPhone XS has been fully paid off for a while and I'm attempting to upgrade to an iPhone 13 Pro 512 GB with an installment plan and trade-in. However, upon attempting to check out online, I'm not given the option to choose installment plans and am instead ushered toward paying the full amount for the phone upfront.

I want to get the new Iphone 13 pro max , I just asked customer service from AT&T about what are the fees I need to pay in order to start the installment plan, they said if I already have a prepaid plan already, I will only need to pay to fee from the phone itself with no other wireless payments. But they told me to text you guys to double check if it's correct

I went in to upgrade/trade in my Iphone XR for the Iphone 13 with the $800 trade in credit. They looked at my phone, it is in excellent condition. They said it is worth the $800 trade in so I will just have to pay the tax on the iphone and you are just locked in with ATT for 36 months, we decided to wait and discuss, went back next day and different person again checks phone and says its eligible but then we go through the whole process and she suddenly tells us that it automatically puts us on the next gen plan and insurance etc for $5 a month for the 36 months and she doesn't know what. I just said no thanks and left. Every time seems to be a different story and sounds fishy.

1. In order to take advantage of the trade-in deal you must be on an unlimited data plan, it does not necessarily have to be one of the currently offered plans but the legacy plan from 10 years ago may be excluded
Are you currently on a plan that says unlimited data?
2. You do not have to have insurance. Insurance is a minimum of $8.99 per month, full insurance is $15 a month. If insurance does show up on your first bill, you can remove it. Just be aware if the phone is lost broken or stolen you still have to pay off the full amount due on the phone, as well as pay to replace it on your own.
3. $5 charge is for early upgrade program. You do not have to participate in the early upgrade program if you are OK with paying the full 36 months payments, which is the only way to get all of your installment credits. This can also be removed by you if it does show up on your bill.
** many retailers require their employees to add insurance and the next up five dollar charge on all new purchases. These are charges and features which can be removed afterwards, but cannot be added afterwards if the customer changes their mind. So just to be safe they add them regardless if you ask for them not to be added. This is a reminder, please always read your bill for the next few months after you have made a change to your plan or account and purchased new devices.

If a retailer “requires” their employees to up charge for something, then the correct answer is to simply go somewhere else or order online. I wouldn’t just take it and hope that I can get the extras removed later.
