I have received a text from "Unknown" stating "Service Denied"

Are you still having the issue?
Thank you for reaching out to our community regarding the “Service denied” message.
Did you attempt to send a picture message prior to getting the message?
Did you send a text to a short code?
Do you have the data connection to the AT&T network enabled?

I did have signal and all services were turned on. I did not send a text to a short code and did not attemp to send any pictures.
I'd like to add that there were other text messages sent and received outside of the group text that was working.
As for your question wether I am still having the problem, I am not sure it may take more than a day before I know.

I am having this same issue. It seems to be directly related to the massive group texting issue ATT is experiencing. "Unknown" with a message "Service Denied" pop up when there appears to be group texting traffic on my phone that includes iPhone and non-iPhone devices. Most of the time I can't send or revieve these group texts.
None of my friends on Verizon are having any of these issues.
As I said in another post, I have my entire company on ATT. If they don't get this fixed, we are GONE!! I am beyond frustrated!
