Stop unlocking process?

Hi -  I've gone through the unlocking process for my iphone 4 and I'm at the point where I click "backup and restore" which will unlock the phone, but now I've decided I dont want to.  Do I have to do anythong at this point e g contact anyone to reverse the process.  Is the unlocking process time limited?  Thanks, Z

I think your confusing a phone that is unlocked from a particular carrier versus a phone that is Jail Broken. Unlocked phones retain all the security features/functionality. Jail Broken phones may be highly susceptible to hacking.

Even if you unlock your phone, it is still the same phone as before. The only difference is that it is no longer locked to AT&T. It can still be used on AT&T and will function the same as before.

I believe that once the unlock is approved, it is in the Apple system and can be done at any time.

No, and why do you want to?  As noted above, your settings, apps and data are unaffected.

If your phone was approved for unlock, I would go ahead and do it. Should you choose to sell the phone after an upgrade, that increases it's value, as it can be used by multiple carriers.

As the previous poster said, a phone can't be "un-unlocked" persay, but it will not change your experience with the device, and, as an added bonus, you now have a recent restore point if you get a new phone or have to do a factory reset!

I guess I'm concerned about security;? I just read a story that iphones have the best security against hacking unless they're unlocked.?? Thanks, Z

Thanks, I wasn't sure, the story did not make that distinction.  Cheers, Z
