Still unlocked phone
I recently changed providers with a completely clean account. AT&T actually owes me money. I requested unlocking an iphone on 9/1 and read the statement about giving 2 business days for processing. I waited and chatted with "Ashton Aiden" on 9/6 who gave me reassurance that it would be unlocked within 24 hours. He even said he put "priority" on it...whatever that means and gave me a case id number. I called on 9/7 and spoke with Dominic who told me he didn't know why it was still not unlocked but thought it would be by 9/10 and that the other person who helped me was just guessing a date. I'm so frustrated. I had been a customer since 1998 and am so disappointed in them. I guess my question is: why promise two business days to unlock and still not follow through?

Did you get your unlock approved, or are you still waiting for that? Getting an unlock approved by AT&T is not the same thing as actually getting the phone unlocked. When AT&T approves an unlock, they simply send a request to Apple to unlock the phone in their activation servers. Apple is the one who actually has to unlock it.
AT&T shouldn’t be saying that they promise a phone will actually be unlocked in 24 or whatever hours since they don’t control the Apple part of the unlocking process. All AT&T controls is the unlocking approval, which should take 2 days max.

I guess it's the unlock approval, then. I agree, it should be no more than 2 days but alas, no email. I've check the status and it says processing.
