So how does the $800 credit work for trading in on an iPhone 12?
I have an iPhone 8 sitting around that is nice and works perfect. It is not on my plan but can I trade this in to get an $800 bill credit off an iPhone 12?
This device, iPhone 8, shows $800 online, so I wonder once bill credit kick in, how much per month will I pay for a new iPhone 12?

As long as the trade in is valued at $95 or higher, you get the $800 credit. Your monthly phone payment depends on which model iPhone 12 you buy. If you buy the 64GB model which costs $800, your monthly phone payment will be $0 once credits start.

To get the $800, you need iPhone 8 or above. An iPhone 7 will only get you $350 credit.

I suggest reading the offer carefully. It’s not just having a device valued at $95. It also has to be one of the specifically listed devices.

It just has to be one of the listed phones and be functional. It doesn’t have to be from AT&T. You’re going to wipe it and remove the SIM before you send it in anyway.

So even though it states $350 trade in for my iPhone 7, I will still get $800?
Just trying to figure out what phone to trade in

No. To get the $800 you must trade in an eligible phone. There is a list of eligible phones that get the $800 credit. The oldest iPhone model to get the $800 is the iPhone 8. There is another list of older phones that get $350 in credits as long as they are worth $35 in trade in. The iPhone 7 is on that list.

What about trading an iPhone 8 in that states "ID locked"
what does this mean?

Are you sure that “ID locked” are the only words on the screen (not “Apple ID locked”?). Why would the ID be locked on your phone? You likely need to clear that up because you need to wipe the phone before you send it in. Also, they’ll reject the trade in if it’s been reported lost or stolen.

When I ordered my iPhone 12 Pro on 10/16, I was offered $800 trade-in credits for my iPhone SE 2020. AT&T changed the term on 10/30 and downgrade the iPhone SE 2020 for only $350 trade-in credits instead of the the original $800 trade-in credits I am still waiting for my trade-in kit by mail. So I am not able to trade in my old phone yet. I want to confirmed that I am getting a full $800 trade-in credits as promised, right?
I tried to ask AT&T rep thru chat, both the rep and a manager told me that I can only get $350 trade-in credits for my iPhone SE 2020. I am so confused as why AT&T would do this to trick me buying a new phone. Please help!

I experienced the exact same issue, iPhone se 2020 trade-in was reduced from $800 to $350.
I spoke with numerous ATT personnel from customer support, Trade-in management and customer retention - including escalation within each department.
I was told the same thing by everyone, they have no control over the terms of the promotion and the ATT trade-in software updates trade-in values regularly and devices can depreciate in value on a daily basis.
after 6 hours of phone calls, I gave up and traded-in an older iPhone 6s for $350 and will sell the iPhone SE 2020.
Don’t wait too long to react, as the trade-in must be completed within 14 days of purchase. $450 for an iPhone 12 is still a good deal - but not as good as free.
Received my iPhone 12 on Thursday and went to trade in Friday and list $450 in tradein value.
very upset that I waited 1 day to trade-in and value of se went from $800 to $350
even harder to understand, how an iPhone 8 (3 years older phone) is worth $100 and iPhone se 2020 is only worth $90 using the att trade in software
