SMS says not delivered but recipient receives

Text messages go through fine for anyone without an iPhone. As soon as I send them a picture message ( SMS ), it’ll show the green progress bar go super slow, then it’ll say message not delivered. But then the recipient responds that they did get the message. It’s all so confusing because sometimes they really don’t get the message but I never know when they do or don’t lol.

  1. only happens when sending an sms to non-iPhone users or group messages with at least 1 recipient that is non-iPhone.
  2. I have both cellular & WiFi on
  3. i have WiFi calling on
  4. i enabled & disabled ENHANCED LTE   with no resolution with either option.
  5. the contact is not blocked. Phone calls & normal text messages work just fine

Hello @estee,

Thank your for your concern.

We'd like to look into why your SMS/MMS messages aren't delivering.

With more details, we'll be able to assist to the best of our ability:

  • Have you tried Troubleshooting your device? This tool provides guided steps that identifies device technical concerns and can result in quick fixes.
  • Also, did you check to see if the SMS messaging is enabled? Go to Settings> iMessage> SMS or MMS and make sure it toggled on.

Please get back to us so we can work towards a resolution as quickly as possible.

Thanks! Correct, I went through the troubleshooter a few times. None of the walk-thrus resolved the issue though. I also have double checked and I do have both SMS & MMS toggled on

Thanks for confirming the steps you've taken so far, @estee.

I've read through your thread here but don't see what type of device you're using. iPhone? What are you using? This is very unusual behavior indeed, and because you've checked some settings - sometimes of the most common culprit is outdated software.

Update your software and test. If the problem continues please post back and we can take a closer look. We're standing by!

Thank you for confirming your software, @estee.

We recommend downloading the AT&T Mark the Spot app to provide examples.
