Sim swapping
I am thinking about swapping to a different mobile service provider. Can I take my SIM card out of my iPhone and put a different sim in to test their service, and if I don’t like their service can I swap the SIM cards back without any consequences

If your phone meets the unlocking requirements you can request to unlock your phone. Do this prior to changing service providers. Link below on how to request unlocking your device.

Yes, you can swap SIM cards without any consequences. As noted, your phone needs to be unlocked for the other carrier sim to work.
