Sim Lock iPhone XS Max

Hi guys,

Last year i bought an iPhone XS Max "UNLOCKED" from eBay, have been using the phone since 1 year in Pakistan without any issues, 2 days ago i sold the phone and reset it, when the buyer inserted his sim it shows that the phone is sim locked. After checking online, it shows the phone is Sim locked under US AT&T Activation policy, this is really surprising, if the phone was sim locked, how was i able to use it for one year?

If it was really sim locked, then i have been a fraud victim on eBay, its been more then a year so i am unable to claim it from eBay or PayPal.

I have got all the valid proofs of purchase though.

Can anyone guide what should i do now? How can i get the phone unlocked? I'm much worried... Please help!

Someone hacked or jailbroke the phone. When you factory reset it, you removed the (Edited per community guidelines). I should warn you the phone is probably stolen which means it will not work.

@lizdance40 If it is stolen, shouldn't it have icloud lock?

Is there no way to unlock it?

If there are any dues of AT&T, and i pay them off, they will still not unlock the phone?

It's only iCloud locked if it was owned and set up by someone before it was stolen.
US carriers have phones stolen all the time. Either they never get to somebody's doorstep or they are ordered fraudulently on the account.

You can request unlock, it might answer some questions about status.

@lizdance40 Tried the link, when i enter the imei, it says, "Looks like you haven't paid off your device yet. Follow these steps to pay off your installment plan. Then, wait 48 hours before you submit a new request. "

Now i do not have the account from which the phone was issued so i can not see the details, anyway to know how much the dues are and how can i pay it off?

you can’t pay it off only the original owner can pay the account off. There is no work around I’m afraid the phone is useless
