SIM ACTIVATION AND PREPAID CARD SET UP

How long does it usually take to activate the sim? I tried activating it like 2 hrs ago and I still don't have service. I can't set up the prepaid card I bought because it requires a password that is supposed to be sent via text but I can't receive any texts because again, I have no signal/service. I tried calling but it won't transfer me to a representative. I called every number I found on the card and online. Please help me resolve the issue ASAP.
