'Secure PIN' AT&T Text

This is the second day in a row I've received a text message that states:

"AT&T Free Msg: Do not share your Secure PIN unless you personally contacted AT&T. Secure PIN is ******.

Didn't contact AT&T? Call us at 800-331-0500 ASAP.

Is this legitimate? I refuse to call the number until I do know the answer to this question. Obviously this worries me, but I don't anticipate calling an entity I'm not even sure if they're who they say they are. Just seems fishy.

The phone number is a legitimate AT&T Customer Service number.  Someone has tried to access your account.  If anyone calls you and asks for that PIN, do not give it to them for any reason.

That number is the AT&T Wireless customer service number.  If you’re getting unexpected texts for your PIN and haven’t done anything requesting that your PIN be sent, it could be a sign that someone else is attempting to log into your account.
