Replacing iPhone and cellular Apple watch at the same time

Hello –

I am about to replace my iPhone and cellular Apple watch with new devices, and I will be setting both of them up on the same day. Can you recommend the best way to transfer my current services to new devices? E.g., do I set up the watch first, or the phone, and how do I make sure I maintain NumberSync (and have it go to the right watch) and don't lose my existing lines, or accidentally add a new line to my account (and get charged extra for it) in the process.

Ideally, I am looking for a list of sequential steps, with links to support articles or other info for how to execute each step.

Thank you!

Hi @mepelman,

We'd love to help!

How do you plan on replacing these devices? Are you upgrading? The first thing you'll want to do is make sure you have a backup save through iTunes. Setting up your phone before the Watch will be ideal. For transferring your number, we recommend visiting a local AT&T Store.

Once you've transferred your number and used your backup data from iTunes, you can focus on the NumberSync feature. We have a helpful forums post which lists everything you need to know about this, including requirements, and how to sync/unsync the feature.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns!

Thank you.

So, once the new phone is set up, I should unsync my old watch, and then sync the new one?
