Phone still active on customers line. ATT unlock request.

Hi, I bought an iPhone 4S from ebay and it said "Unlocked" on the listing. I bought it and I put a t-mobile sim in it and it gave me a sim not supported message. "The SIM that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server." I don't know how to get in contact with the old owner of this device so if someone can help me that would be great.

iPhone 4S is not capable of working on any carrier in the United States. It's a 3G only phone. That response has nothing to do with it being locked or unlocked It's just not compatible. The oldest phone that is compatible is an iPhone 6

ATT can't and won't help you.  Contact the seller

T-mobile still allows the phone on its network. It's my backup phone and it has my t mobile sim in it.

Hello @wvtckx,

We understand how important it is to have your device unlocked, and let's get the information you are looking for.

We recommend contacting the device seller/owner for assistance with the device unlock, as the device was purchased from a third-party seller.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

For 3 more weeks 😑. Shut off is on April 2nd.

Which in your case is irrelevant because the phone still has to be HD voice compatible which means voice over LTE which that phone does not have

And Apple no longer supports that phone which means they can't process the unlock through their servers.

T-Mobile has an IMEI check. I suggest you use it
