Phone spoofing within our family plan?

We have a family plan with 4 cell lines. I started noticing that there would be multiple instances (many times over many months) of incoming and outgoing one minute phone calls recorded on my husband’s number to me or our teens’ numbers, but the calls do not all show up on our phone log (either a group of them, or one at the beginning or end will be missing). Is this due to a phone spoofing device or card being used?

We have the unlimited plan, so it’s not a billing issue. There are also lots of other random numbers on his log from all over with many different zip codes.

No. Calls not answered are not in the call log but the phone will record any call made or received whether answered or not. Now if your call logs are missing answered calls, that shouldn’t happen.

So if he makes a call it will record it in his log as being dialed but if the person he is calling does not answer it will not appear in their log?

Hey there, momnprof! Here's what you need to know about incoming calls on your call log.

You're correct. As @sandblaster already shared, incoming calls will show on the recipient's call log only for incoming calls that are answered or that go to voicemail.

Incoming calls like what you're experiencing where the number of someone on your Unlimited family plan is showing up on your phones is an indication that the number has been spoofed, or if it's your number appearing on your phone, the calls originate from mobile phones with Caller ID Block.

Currently, AT&T does not have a feature to provide information on automatically rejected blocked calls. We recommend  that you follow the details under Wireless when you visit Recognize and prevent phone scams to learn how to protect yourself from caller ID spoofing and other kinds of phone fraud.

There are even helpful tips under Additional resources and important information about how to Protect yourself from deceptive callers.

We hope this information is correct. Let us know if you need any other assistance with AT&T products and services.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.
