Phone Calls

Hi. I recently got the iPhone 12, my previous phone was the 6 and I've had the 12 for about a month now. I noticed when certain people call me the call does not go through, it tells them the call could not be completed as dialed. It doesn't do this to everyone but so far a good amount of people have told me calling me doesn't work for them. What should I do to fix that?

Let's look into why incoming callers are receiving that message when dialing your number. That automated message is letting your contacts know that the number they're dialing is either an incomplete dial or invalid number. Generally, this notice can occur when:

  • Dialing less than 10 digits.
  • Dialing less than seven digits in supported areas with seven digit dialing.
  • Dialing 1+ when 1+ is not needed.

Have those contacts perform either or all of the following:

  • Dial all 10 digits.
  • Dial seven digits (if you're located in an area where seven digit dialing is supported).
  • Exclude the 1+ when dialing your number.

Also, if your experience persist despite the first steps, make sure that your contacts clear your number from their address book then dial your number (including 1+ followed by the 10 digit number) to test the results. If successful, they'll want to re-add your number to their contacts.
