Outbound call being hijacked

This has happened to me twice within the last week... I called a legit 800 business number, no typo A medical device company answers the phone and does not listen to me saying "NO" I hang up, double check the phone number (realizing its the same number) and I call it and it now connects to the business I was trying to connect to. This has happened twice to me in the last week....has this happened to anyone else?
