Not receiving a specific sms message

I texted this person last Sunday and I received the message so, I’m able to receive messages from the number. It just a specific response message on something I texted the person about last week or so, that I’m not getting. So, how can I fix that? Is it an issue on my end or theirs? I’ve been waiting for a response from them for weeks and they said at Church (as the person I texted is my pastor) that they sent the message 2-3 times, but I didn’t get it and I have to mention that I received a text from them last week and it looked like there was more to the message, but I a saw was “good afternoon.” It’s a regular sms message

Hi MybelovedJesus! There are a couple of factors that can cause incoming messages to not deliver to your phone.

Here are a couple of tips that can help resolve your experience.

  • Restart your device: Chances are there have been updates made to the network in your area and restarting your device (power it off for 1-2 minutes then back on) can resolve that trend on your device by refreshing your device's connection to the network.
  • Turn Wi-Fi off: Make sure mobile (cellular) data is enabled and that you can browse the web. Then try again.
    • To learn how to turn cellular data on, visit our Device Support Center. After selecting your device's make and model, choose Connectivity followed by Signal & Cellular Data.
  • Be sure messaging is on:
    • iOS devices: Go to Settings, then Message, and turn iMessage off and back on.
    • Android devices: Go to Settings, then Advanced Messaging, and turn Advanced Messaging off and back on.

Try this and let us know how it goes. Keep an eye on your signal strength (number of available bars) and let us know if this trend is specific to a single contact or multiple recipients. We don't want you missing anymore messages from your churchmember.

I did all of that and still didn’t get it. It’s a specific contact that I’m not receiving a specific message from as I’m able to text and receive from other contacts just fine.

Does the other party have an Android phone?  There can be issues with texts between iPhones and Android phones.  Some slap fight about texting protocols between the respective companies.

Hi there @Kayla_16, we want to make sure you can stay in contact with all your contacts.

Our ACE @dwill05 makes a great point about the phone's model. Have you been able to receive messages from any other Android phones, or is this only happening with one specific contact? This will help us narrow down the source of the issue.

Also, try making sure this contact hasn't been blocked accidentally, which would prevent you from seeing their messages. A software update may be needed, as a patch may be needed to receive Android texts again.

Lastly, try having this other contact deleted your saved contact information, and have them send a message to you by using your number in the messaging app.

Please let us know if this helps.
