No SIM error on iPad but it does not have a removable SIM - What do I do?

I have an iPad Pro 9.7 that I have been using for 3+ years. In the past couple of months the cellular connection would stop working at times, then start working again. It is still doing that more frequently now, but as the cellular stops working it flashes up on screen a "No SIM" error. But the SIM tray is empty as it has an internal SIM. What do I do to get this working correctly? I have done everything that has been recommended by Apple and AT&T via their troubleshooting sites. Updated the OS, Updated the Carrier Settings, Turned the device off and back on (which this will sometimes allow it to start working, but within a few minutes I get the No SIM error message again). It also recommends trying a new SIM, but it is built in so not sure what to do there. Can AT&T send me a new SIM?

Hi @Ellerd,

Thanks for reaching out! We'd love to help.

The iPad does in fact have an internal SIM. It should still have a SIM slot on the exterior. Can you provide us with some background information regarding when the issue began happening? If this sprang up in the last two months, did you make any changes to the tablet or your account during this time? Since you've exhausted most of the troubleshooting options, we'd simply like to know more about when the issue began happening.

We look forward to your response!

@ATTHelp Thank you for your reply. The issues started 60 to 90 days ago. It was spotty at first. I would just turn it to airplane mode and back and it would reconnect. When that stopped working I started turning off the iPad and back on and it would reconnect. Now it happens all the time and getting the iPad to reconnect is not even possible with an iPad restart. The only thing that seems to work now is to reset all of the network settings. But that is a pain as it dumps all of my wifi settings as well. So what do we do from here?

Greetings @Ellerd,

Thanks for providing us details on when this issue started for you. We'd recommend you trying to get a new SIM card to see if that helps with better connection.
