New User Credit and Deposit Question

I just moves here in US this march. I also got hired same month. I wanted to apply for a new phone in AT&T but my friend told me before i can get one i still need to have a credit history because its one of the requirents. I just started at my work so i dont have one yet but i have my a bank account already. My question is can i still apply for a new phone even without the credit history thingy?

Without a credit history, you will be required to post a deposit, sometimes between $500 to $1000. It may be better to get a gophone (do not require credit check or deposit) for a couple of years until you build a credit history.

IF you decide to purchase an iPhone at full price you might consider buying a SIM FREE phone directly from Apple. Purchase either online or visit a local Apple store. The SIM FREE phone can be used on any carrier network and you would be able to use it with a local carrier SIM if you go home for a visit, etc.
