I bought an iPad Pro and I was trying to use my TMobile eSim on it but it seems to be locked to AT&T. Is there a way my eSim can be unlocked PLEASE @ATTHelp

Nothing whatsoever to do with being blacklisted.  iPads bought from AT&T come with the eSIM slot only allowing AT&T as a usable option.  That’s simply how they come, and why you need to request carrier visibility for any non-AT&T option to be usable.

Hello, @CrisBaez we're happy to help with options for your iPad eSim.

An eSIM (embedded SIM) enabled device has a specialized piece of hardware called the embedded universal integrated circuit card, which can store SIM profiles from one or more carriers. The SIM profile delivered to the device over the internet is commonly referred to as an eSIM.

  • The SIM profile/eSIM itself is a piece of software installed on wireless devices which acts as a virtual SIM card.

For devices supporting an embedded Apple SIM or eSIM, there is an option to delete SIM information.

  • For embedded Apple SIM: Go to Settings > General Reset Erase All Content and Settings > Erase iPad.
  • Users are presented with a choice to maintain or delete SIM information. To maintain cellular network connectivity, select Erase All and Keep Data Plans. To delete cellular network profile and cancels connectivity, select Erase All.

For eSIM-based iPads :

  • Go to Settings > Cellular Data > swipe left on their listed plan to reveal a “Remove” button; select Remove OR
  • Go to Settings > Cellular Data > Manage AT&T Account > Remove Plan.
  • The Remove plan function deletes cellular network profile and cancels connectivity.
    • Heads up! This action does not cancel the active plan associated with the SIM.

Once you have removed the AT&T eSIm from your Ipad device, you are able to obtain a eSIm from your selected carrier and preform the activation process. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

Unfortunately, the “help” that @ATTHelp posted isn’t complete.  iPads bought from AT&T have the eSIM slot effectively locked to AT&T (the physical SIM slot is unlocked).  If you want to use another eSIM, you’ll need to get the eSIM slot unlocked to allow other carriers.  Simply deleting the plan won’t do that.  You’ll need to request carrier reveal/carrier visibility to use another eSIM.

My iPad currently doesn’t have any eSim programmed. It only gives me 2 options to select which are AT&T and “Other”. I tried “Other” with a QR code and it won’t let me use my eSim from the other carrier. How does one request a Carrier Reveal/Visibility? @dwill05 @ATTHelp

Where did you buy the iPad?  The fact that there is no current active eSIM in there means only that.  It’s likely still an iPad bought from AT&T that only allows an AT&T eSIM whether one is currently installed or not.

As discussed in the link I posted, you’ll need to contact AT&T to request carrier visibility for the iPad.

Thank you for reaching back out to the AT&T Community Forums @CrisBaez We want to get you into a DM to review your carrier visibility inquiry. Check the message icon in the upper portion of the page and reply.

In the meantime we want to include some questions to include in your message back to us.

  • Contact Name
  • Email Address
  • Preferred Contact Number
  • IMEI
  • Screenshot showing fulfilled installment plan or completed monthly commitment

Provide this information in the DM and not on the public forum for your privacy. We will get started on finding the best solution for resolving your eSIm concerns. Again, keep an eye out for the DM.

I bought the iPad from someone. I don’t think it’s blacklisted or anything as I did a IMEI check and the iPad also allows me to actually buy a data plan from AT&T. @dwill05 @ATTHelp

I have the exact same problem I have a 12.9 ipad 5th where the physical sim is unlocked and I can use a competitor sim but the esim tray is locked to AT&T and I cannot see or add any other carrier. How do we get this corrected @ATTHelp

@cwlc98 @ATTHelp Helped me and i also contacted AT&T help on Twitter and it took about 1-2 days to get my iPad eSim unlocked. I think ATThelp on Twitter solved my problem faster.

@cwlc98 help here told me it would take 5-7 days while ATTHelp in Twitter told me  1-2 days (I think my iPad eSIM was in fact unlocked in 1.5 days)
