Moving Data To Your New Apple iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone Pro Max - What You Need To Do

First, congratulations on getting your new iPhone.

These instructions are for transferring your data from one phone to your new iPhone*.

When activating your new iPhone the iOS will ask if you want to do a software update to your phone - select UPDATE NOW.
Before you move your data to your iPhone 15, you must update the iOS on the new iPhone. This will ensure the data transfer is as smooth as possible.

Check out Apple's guide on how to transfer data if you need additional help.

*Heads Up: If you are moving your data from the iCloud or setting up your iPhone as a new device, you can update the iOS later.

LOL, what is this step you need to do first?  I don’t see anything listed in the “accepted solution”

Also, the link to Apple’s guide on how to transfer data in the first post is a dead link.  Maybe this is what you meant.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210216

or this

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202033

Also, my experience is that Apple will update to the latest iOS as soon as it’s turned on and connected to WiFi, and won’t let you complete the setup until it updates the software.  At least that’s what happened when setting up my 15.

I bought a new iphone 15 pro and I am travelling in less than 60 days, but I need to unlock my phone to use the e-sim, how can I get that done?

The unlock eligibility requirements say you have to wait 60 days to unlock the phone if you bought it at full price.

No way around that.  Where did you buy the phone?  If you had bought from Apple, and paid Apple, you would have gotten an unlocked phone in the box.  But if you buy from AT&T, you get a locked phone and are subject to their unlocking policy.

Bought it from Apple. But they made me select a carrier, which is AT&T. I dunno if my phone is unlocked. And when I tried to check it didn’t show me

An iPhone 15 Pro will definitely show you whether it’s locked to a carrier or not.

Settings - General - About - Carrier Lock.

If it says No SIM restrictions, it’s not locked to any carrier.

Also, you may have bought from Apple, but who did you pay for the phone?  Did you pay Apple full price, or sign up for Apple 24 month installments?  As long as you paid Apple, not AT&T for the phone, it should come unlocked.  Mine did, and I’m paying Apple.  Having to choose AT&T (or one of the other carriers) doesn’t seem to matter.  I chose AT&T, and my phone is unlocked.

I bought my iPhone from Apple as well. I selected AT&T as my carrier and my phone displays No SIM Restrictions.

Thanks for the heads up on the link, @dwill05

It has been updated to point to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210216.

Thanks!

Choose the "upgrade now" button and the popup appears.. uh oh..  BUSINESS_SMB_SOC_CODE_MISSING

Calling the phone number on the message results in a hour and a half wait and not one person even remotely understood the problem, and the final solution is, "we will report it to our website team". This has been happening for a long time, and is very inconvenient as it should take less than a minute to upgrade my phone online

with no solution extremely unprofessional staff

Did you read the TOS for trade-ins/upgrades and how they work?
